PUBLIC HEARING

LEGAL NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town Board of the Town of Sweden will hold a Public Hearing at the Town Hall, 18 State Street, Brockport, New York, in said Town on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 6:15 p.m. to hear all persons for or against the adoption of Local Law 2 of 2026 – Amending Chapter 38 of the Sweden Town Code. 

The purpose of the local law is to change the office of Sweden Tax Receiver from an elected position to a Board annually appointed position by adding Section 38-11 Article IV Tax Receiver to Sweden Town Code Chapter 38 as set forth below:

Section 38-11.  The office of Sweden Tax Receiver is to become a Board annually appointed position rather than an elected position upon the expiration of the current term of the Sweden Tax Receiver which shall take place on December 31, 2026.

This Local Law is subject to mandatory referendum to be submitted for approval of the qualified voters in the Town of Sweden at the next general election.
