Job Posting: Deputy Town Clerk

The Town of Sweden is seeking an organized, detail-oriented professional to serve as full-time Deputy Town Clerk. This position plays a key role in supporting the Town Clerk with daily operations, managing licenses and records, and helping modernize office systems and procedures. Typical examples (not an exhaustive list) of daily duties:
  • Assist in custody, care, organization, and security of Town records (paper and digital)
  • Issue licenses and permits
  • Maintain minutes, contracts, permits, oaths, and other detailed records
  • Light accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and specialized software
  • Respond to inquiries and requests professionally and efficiently
  • Assist Building/Planning Clerk
  • Assist Tax Receiver
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Town Clerk
Requirements:
  • Residence within the Town of Sweden or willingness to relocate
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, calendar, email and software programs
  • Municipal and/or clerical experience preferred
  • Familiarity with social media and website optimization preferred
  • Notary Public or willing to obtain preferred
